The 2009 vintage was great for Cabernet Sauvignon in Walla Walla. This is a classic Vintners’ blend of all six Bordeaux noble grapes — starting with 76% Cabernet Sauvignon from Yellow Bird, Dwelley, Pepper Bridge, Seven Hills, Tokar and Windrow Vineyards. Then 9% Merlot from the same vineyards, while 6% Dwelley Franc and 5% Dwelley Malbec elevates the Cabernet flavors. The 2% Petit Verdot from Frazier Bluff Vineyard and 2% from Dwelley vineyard give it perfect countering spicy notes. The black currant and ripe plum nose attract you to the buttery and lush mid-palate of fruitcake, dried figs, blueberries, rum-soaked vanilla pound cake, finished with a decadent Banana’s Foster.
